Countering Human Trafficking

In crisis situations, such as the full-scale war in Ukraine, migrants require greater protection against human trafficking. This occurs because they may lose their jobs, other sources of income, and remain without protection, making them easy targets for criminals. Additionally, people already victimized by human trafficking may become even more vulnerable due to economic downturn and loss of income sources. Organizations working on countering human trafficking must pay attention to this issue and help ensure access to social services and sources of assistance for them. Preventing economic instability and providing social support can help reduce the risk of migrants falling victim to human trafficking.
