Media Literacy Training: How to Act Confidently in the Information Space
On April 25, 2026, the team of the Charitable Organization “Charitable Foundation ‘Source of Revival’” conducted an internal media literacy training course within the framework of the project “Path to Resilience.” An expert, Associate Professor of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Olena Parkhomenko, was involved in delivering the training.
“The aim of the training was to increase the level of media literacy of the team as an important tool for managing information risks, maintaining trust in the organization, and strengthening its reputational resilience in wartime conditions,” said the Director of the organization, Serhii Zhuk.
During the training, participants worked with a key principle: in conditions of information overload and constant manipulation, it is important not only to receive information, but also to critically evaluate it and communicate responsibly.
The team focused on how to work with information in conditions of constant risks. The trainer emphasized information threats — fakes, manipulation, and propaganda — and what to pay attention to in daily work.
It was important not only to gain knowledge, but also to apply it in practice, so a significant part of the time participants worked with cases and real-life situations.
Special attention was paid to responsible communication: verifying information before publication, distribution of roles within the team, and responding to fakes. As a result of the training, the team developed the foundation of an internal protocol for working with information.
“In working with information, it is important not only to react quickly, but also to pause in order to verify sources and understand the context — this is what helps avoid mistakes and maintain trust,” noted Deputy Director Kateryna Melnykova.
The training course became an important step in strengthening the organization’s communication capacity. The acquired knowledge and practical tools will help the team act more confidently in the information space, work more carefully with information, and build transparent and responsible communication with partners and beneficiaries.
The project “Path to Resilience” is implemented by the Charitable Organization “Charitable Foundation ‘Source of Revival’” within the project “Phoenix: Strength of Communities,” implemented by the Eastern Europe Foundation with the support of the European Union.
