Understanding the complex: advocacy training for NGO

Recently, the team of the Charitable Organization “CF “Revival Source” within the framework of the “Path to Resilience” project organized an internal training course on advocacy for NGOs, involving an experienced expert O.V. Kulinich, with the aim of strengthening the team’s capacity and developing practical skills in the field of advocacy, in particular the formation of convincing arguments, defending positions, and effective communication with stakeholders.

Advocacy is one of the more complex and at the same time important topics for the civil society sector, therefore it was important for the team to better understand its approaches, tools, and practical application.

Over two days, 12 participants became familiar with the key theoretical aspects of advocacy, and also actively worked in practice. Thanks to the intensive format, the team formed groups, modeled advocacy cases, developed arguments, and searched for effective approaches to interaction with different stakeholders.

This format made it possible not only to better understand the topic, but also to feel it “in practice” — through discussions, joint work, and analysis of real situations, in an open and supportive atmosphere with active team interaction.

“Advocacy is not an easy topic, but through the analysis of real cases it became clearer. We worked in teams, discussed potential initiatives that our organization could join, and I saw myself in these processes. This is valuable experience for further work,” shared training participant Yaroslav Bazukov.

The training course became an important step in the development of the team and preparation for more systematic work with advocacy initiatives. The knowledge and materials developed will become the basis for further actions and implementation of advocacy approaches in the organization’s activities.

The “Path to Resilience” project is implemented by the Charitable Organization “CF “Revival Source” within the framework of the “Phoenix: Power of Communities” project, implemented by the East Europe Foundation with the support of the European Union.
